Learning Chinese cultures can be fun. Here in Brainchild Pictures we couple learning with movie watching, which is a popular activity among students. As our films Wa Is For Wayang, Wayang Boy, and The Wayang Kids have rich Chinese cultural elements, one of the post-screening activities we offer is an appreciation workshop on Chinese cultures.
After the movie screening, a Chinese opera teacher will share on the brief history of the cultural performance, the main characters of the performance, and show the students on the fundamental movement of the beautiful cultural art. Then, the students will have a chance to experience the art such as wearing the costumes and attempting the movements with the guidance from the teacher. In the end, everyone will take memorable photos together.
The entire session requires 90-120 minutes, usually is held in an assembly hall. We will utilise school's laptop for projection. This will be a fun and unique way for students to learn Chinese cultures!
